Funding Options for Speech-Language Pathology Services

  • In Manitoba, some speech-language pathology services are publicly funded through provincial health services, regional health authorities (such as Winnipeg Regional Health Authority or your local health authority), Children’s Therapy Initiative (CTI), and school-based speech-language pathology services. These programs provide important support; however, services may be limited by eligibility criteria, waitlists, session frequency, or scope of practice.

Private speech-language pathology services can be accessed alongside public services or while waiting for publicly funded therapy. Families and adults often choose private services for shorter wait times, flexible scheduling, or additional support beyond what is available publicly.

Jordan’s Principle ensures that First Nations children can access the health, education, and social services they need without delay. Speech-language pathology services are commonly covered, including assessment, therapy, and related supports. Applications are managed through Jordan’s Principle service coordinators.
